Iris leads her company’s talent strategy, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and is focused on ensuring that Komatsu is an inclusive workplace for all, including those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Iris serves as the Executive Sponsor of the Komatsu Global Women’s Network, advocating for inclusion of all gender identities in the group’s mission and programming. She is a trained Gender Transition Leader for Komatsu, working with other transgender employees to ensure that they have the resources and support that they need to successfully transition at work. In 2022, she facilitated learning on gender diversity and LGBTQIA+ inclusion for over 200 employees, and has adapted that training to e-learning for use across the enterprise. She is also active in the development of Komatsu’s global Diversity and Inclusion strategy, and has been a primary contributor to the script for an educational video on LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Outside of work, Iris serves as the Vice President of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (IDEA) for the Northeast Illinois Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She is also an active supporter of organizations that advocate for LGBTQIA+ friendly legislation, and for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in her faith community.
