Founder and CEO
Mark is the founder and CEO of Facebook and a vocal advocate of the value of diversity. Over the last few years, Facebook has shown itself to be a public ally of LGBT inclusion, with Facebook employees marching in large numbers in Pride parades around the world, and Mark himself joining the march where possible. Most recently, Facebook’s Pride Filter, used by over 26 million people across the world, turned the social media site into a festival of colour as people used the tool to show their support for LGBT Pride. Facebook has a robust LGBT employee resource group, and has also taken huge steps to ensure transgender identities are included by adding around 50 different options that users can choose to define their gender. Under Mark’s leadership, Facebook was also involved in litigation supporting marriage equality in the US, and has actively participated in events such as Lesbians Who Tech and supported efforts such as the Trevor Project and GLAAD.
