Most impactful of all was an interactive company-wide ‘YamJam’ at Centrica (online webchat) where Jorge had a conversation about LGBT+ inclusion and the wider issues affecting the LGBT+ community. He championed the use of data to improve LGBT+ inclusion, with the introduction of questions on sexual orientation and gender identity in Centrica’s annual engagement survey. As executive sponsor for Spectrum, Centrica’s LGBT+ network, he played a key role this year, working with ‘allies’ to secure for the first time a float at London Pride for British Gas, one of Britain’s best-known brands, and ensuring Spectrum representatives get enough time away from their day jobs to run and grow the network. Outside of the workplace, Jorge mentors LGBT+ young people who are rapidly advancing their careers at other firms.
